Persepolis 1. Persepolis takes place during the Iranian Revolution and Marjane is one of the characters that portrays what she has been through. In the passage, she was going through some sort of change in her life physically and emotionally. She went to study abroad in Europe and had encountered many hardships. She was homeless and was hanging out with the wrong group of people. Marjane Satrapi always spoke up for herself no matter how strict her lifestyle was. 2.  Page 187: Marjane is going through physical change and doesn't know she feels about it. She is growing up and gets a beauty mark, which she thought was hideous. She cut her hair short and different and eventually made a group of friends who smoked weed a lot. Ta-nehisi Coates Between the World and Me 1. The first thing I thought when I read this passage was that a white police officer killed an innocent black man. I assumed that it was the usual incident that happens most of the time in my generation. This book portrays the difficulties African Americans have to go through in order to survive. Police officers or white people in general are privileged and the passage demonstrated how African Americans don't ever get justice due to their race. 2.  "Prince had been driving to see his fiancee. He was killed yards from her home"(77). This is an example of injustice that African Americans go through. Innocent black people have been murdered and police officers are set free knowing well enough they did something wrong. Racism still exists today and people are blinded to see that. Researching my problem solution paper wasn't easy but I did learn even more information about my issue. Writing down all my ideas and information into it was pretty difficult due to the fact that I didn't want to sound repetitive compared to my last essay. I wrote about sex trafficking in third world countries and the different solution  we can do to help as an international community. There isn't much awareness about this issue and it has become one of the most important topics I have encountered. Seeing the difficult lifestyle most of these women and children have to go through is truly devastating and I hope to bring out awareness about this topic. Comparing this issue to my Book Club book is pretty similar because Persepolis is in a time of the Islamic Revolution. Women were treated unfairly like being forced to wear the veil, being disrespected in public, and the Shah was dangerous.

I wrote my introduction by introducing the issue I will be talking about and ways to prevent it. I made sure to include the lists of ways the international community can help prevent sex trafficking and help the victims of it. For example,  setting up organizations, educating young girls, and spreading awareness.
