Persepolis
1. Persepolis takes place during the Iranian Revolution and Marjane is one of the characters that portrays what she has been through. In the passage, she was going through some sort of change in her life physically and emotionally. She went to study abroad in Europe and had encountered many hardships. She was homeless and was hanging out with the wrong group of people. Marjane Satrapi always spoke up for herself no matter how strict her lifestyle was.
2. Page 187: Marjane is going through physical change and doesn't know she feels about it. She is growing up and gets a beauty mark, which she thought was hideous. She cut her hair short and different and eventually made a group of friends who smoked weed a lot. I think Marjane went through her first stage of change because she was living a new life in a new country.
Page 194: The box where it shows all her memories was deep. She wanted everything to be back to normal and everything was happening too fast for her. I admire her for coming back and eventually finding herself. As she went through depression, her life changed again.
Page 197: This page was interesting because she lied about where she was from due to the fact that she was somewhat embarrassed of her culture. As people were talking bad about her and her culture, she finally let out all her anger out on them. They didn't take her seriously and thought she was insane. I did admire her at the fact that she realized her pride in her culture.
